About Us

The UNM Hobbit Society is a student-founded organization on the campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. The purpose of the society is to encourage the study and exploration of J.R.R. Tolkien's writings and sources. As outlined in its constitution and bylaws, members may include undergraduate and graduate students as well as some like-minded community members. The UNM Hobbit Society is sponsored by faculty advisor Leslie Donovan, continuing faculty in the University Honors Program.

In addition, this website was designed to aid in the discussion and discovery of J.R.R. Tolkien and his works in general, but especially as they pertain to courses taught by Dr. Donovan. It is also a Tolkien fan site. Because it is frequently under redesign, you will find information relevant to students from classes taught by Dr. Donovan as well as media that you would expect to find on a fan site (i.e. pics, movies, articles, news, etc...).
